Related: About this forumWhat's for Thanksgiving Dinner, Thurs., Nov. 25, 2021
Posting early to give the most time flexibility to our forum chefs today.
I'm not having TG dinner until tomorrow. I like to have Thanksgiving a day late so I can have some time outdoors without leafblowers blasting at me all day long. Unfortunately, that's the kind of neighborhood I live in. Thanksgiving is the only day of the year without constant blowers.
Tomorrow, however, I will have the usual TG dinner with a few slices of turkey, sweet potatoes, cornbread stuffing, cranberry relish, and roasted Brussels sprouts. Homemade pumpkin pie made from a pumpkin I grew.

(21,998 posts)The Landlady(!) was in costume on a popular float in the Macy's parade this morning. Since she worked, I'm cooking.
Roasted Long Island duckling stuffed with garlic, chopped lemon peal and Rosemary, (it all gets discarded). Scoring the skin is always tricky and I cut through a bit too much, I think. At least I didn't cut into the flesh!
On the side I'll have wild rice and pan-style stuffing with onions, celery and chopped carrots, (hat tip to DUer TrailRider1951, https://www.democraticunderground.com/1157109207).
I'll make a gravy from the giblets and some of the pan drippings. There was a flavor pack included with the bird but those are usually so high in sodium that I generally pass.
Le seour peas and a red leaf salad to finish out the feast.
Apple pie for dessert.
Happy Thanksgiving to all DU chefs and their diners!

(407 posts)I still do Thanksgiving dinner. So, a turkey cutlet, stuffing and gravy. Stuffed potatoes (which my Mom always called twice baked) Brussels sprouts, and maybe some carrots. With George Winston playing in background.

(5,446 posts)with mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, wild rice/mushroom dish, homemade fresh cranberry sauce, green bean casserole, black/green olives, and a homemade cherry pie. Did most of the hard work yesterday and, at age 74, am thankful that I can still do it. Realize there will come a day when I can't. Happy Thanksgiving to all!

(10,130 posts)It was a lot less hectic when we were both working. So today we're having steak, a salad with the last tomatoes from the garden, and a lower-calorie version of pommes lyonnais (made with stock instead of mounds of butter). I'm also baking a pie, but that's for a pot-luck tomorrow.

(9,144 posts)roasted brussel sprouts with pears and balsamic glaze, green beans sautéed with onions and bacon, Anne McCords Leg from the Alices Restaurant Cookbook, grand daughters breakfast potatoes she learned in whatever they call home ec these days (not real Thanksgivingy but very good and she wanted to do it), Smores bars from the other grand daughters childrens cookbook, pecan pie, and chocolate pie. There was supposed to be rolls, but somehow they never made it to the oven.
Since two people (and a dog) didnt make dinner due to Covid issues one who had his butt kicked by the booster shot yesterday, and the other who visited her mother in the nursing home yesterday only to learn there was a case in the home we have lots of leftovers, even after sending food to them.

(1,704 posts)Just three of us, and we don't like turkey well enough to bother with it. But the rest is pretty traditonal: mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, roast vegetables, and homemade apple pie.
