I have discovered the most interesting vlog on YouTube. It's country life in Azerbaijan.

It shows different methods of cooking, mostly outdoors over open fire. The farm animals are running around and include chickens, sheep, a heifer calf and a dog. In this particular one they are picking and preserving cherries and cooking beef with dried vegetables.

1. One of the best parts of YouTube

are videos like these.

I love taking walking tours of places I most likely will never see.

Most recent examples: Alma Atty in Kazakhstan, Ulan Bator in Mongolia, Yaounde in Cameroon.

3. I've actually visited the first two. I'll have to go looking for the videos to match my memories.

6. I do that too.

Oslo, Dominica, Berlin, Moscow...

It's always interesting to see how much things have changed (or not).

7. Oh, my yes. I've been traveling around the world for the last 55 years.

Things change so much and not necessarily for the better.

2. I keep running across these. Always interesting and informative.

Have you seen the one with Chinese woman who goes off into a bamboo stand with only a machete and ends up making a whole set of furniture? Wild.
Thereís also one of a guy who digs out a bunch of mud and builds a cave like house complete with small wading pool in front.
These things are amazing.

8. Netflix has very good food docs...

I'm hooked on a series called "Ugly delicious" which is making of and cooking various foods indigenous to an area in China.
They cover some foods and recipes that are only made in a certain area, while others are more familiar to us. The ingenuity is fascinating, the episodes are only 15 minutes or so in length, so you can watch quite a few at one sitting.
