1. I can tell by the recipe it probably won't beat my favorite, but I will add bacon next time.

It sure won't hurt.

3. Neither do I

However, I've learned that the generic term "meatloaf" is actually a dish with a thousand different variations. Multiple meats, various additions and different spicing can make this common dish unique and delicious.

Still, it's not everyone's thing.

16. Various textures, too

Some are loafs, some are bricks using a fake ID.

9. I do love a good meatloaf

although I never really mastered making one. I might try this recipe. Better yet, it makes two loaves, so I can easily make half the recipe. I live alone, and can get rather bored with leftovers.

10. I use my Mom's trick

Instead of breadcrumbs, we tear up white sandwich bread into tiny pieces. It makes the meatloaf more moist and gives it a very pleasant texture. You have to increase the amount spices/seasonings a little bit, though, so the bread doesnít make the meatloaf bland.

11. I might keep that in mind, although I don't ever have white bread,

and only rarely have whole wheat bread in the house. Living alone has its drawbacks.

I would be very inclined to add various seasonings. I'm not a huge fan of garlic, so I'd be inclined to leave that out and throw in some celery seed, marjoram, thyme, maybe some basil.

19. does the recipe

have you soak the white breadcrumbs in milk?

I had one that did. I still use it now and then.

I, too, seldom have white bread in the house but I have things like Brioche rolls or whole wheat and would use either of these.

13. Meatloaf is one of those things

that no matter what else you use, ground beef plus egg plus bread crumbs will come out tasting reliably like meatloaf every time.

15. While we're talking ground beef: I got this hamburger press today, and am quite happy with it.

I like to mix lots of chopped onions in my ground beef, but they keep the hamburger from being firm so it breaks up, no matter how hard I try to press it.

Enter the Favia Burger Press: Simple, sturdy, and low-tech, I put one thin patty paper in the base, roll up a ball of ground beef & onion, cover with another patty paper, and press down hard on the press. I made one medium-thick tonight, and it cooked up great, and held its shape. I took the rest of my ground beef and layered one finished burger on top of the other, separating 'em with the patty papers. I'll put 'em in the freezer to pull out as needed.

18. Close to mine. I add chopped green pepper and a little A-1 Sauce (plus ketchup).

Bacon sounds good, though.
