Does anyone else have anxiety problems because of head trauma?

I fell off of a bicycle about 10 years ago. Almost died. If I had bled in instead of out I would have died I was in a coma for 3 days because of it. Anyway, I have some anxiety because of it, which is apparently common, but, I have developed a caffeine sensitivity I think because of it. My coworker today got me a coffee, very nice of her, but I asked for decaf because I know I am sensitive. They gave her a regular which I drank right down thinking it was decaf. I spent the rest of the day at work on the verge of a panic attack because of it. Has anyone else experienced this? It isn't the first time but it might have been the worst

I had to go to a 50/50 mix, and cut back to 1 12 oz mug daily.

And you're right it sucks

It does suck. I never had a problem before, but after that I just can't take it. So weird our bodies.

it really does suck. But, there are steps to make it better. I have a great job despite my anxiety and they are understanding of it. I also make sure that I correct things that are linked whenever I can. I also have some short-term memory problems so I write everything down I can.

struck from behind by a driver who drifted outside the white line on a windy road, serious concussion and some bad road rash but no fractures, abdominal injuries or long-term hospitalization. They experienced a period of anxiety and panic attacks -- including one bad enough to precipitate an ER visit within the first month after the injury -- but have since progressed beyond it. It was bad for a few months and slowly receded over a year or two. They did not develop caffeine sensitivity as far as I'm aware, but maybe they just didn't share that with me. In any case, they definitely imbibe in regular coffee on a regular basis nowadays (5-10 years later).

I'm sorry for what you're going through.

I'm glad they are doing well now! I would love if someone would do a study on this. Maybe they have but I haven't done my research up to this point. And thank you.

I'm assuming you have. I'm sorry to hear of the sensitivity to caffeine and the almost-panic-attack, that sucks.

But they all say that I'm fine technically. So that's why I'm curious. Honestly I don't have any cognitive impairments (Thank God). This is my only hold up. So weird .

I was reading some articles in the Journal of Neurology. There is definitely a correlation between anxiety as well as depression and head trauma. My son had a concussion and I am seeing how that has impacted him. Head trauma is a major factor in emotional and psychological trauma. I hope you find some relief.

she has epilepsy because of it, but it took 15 years for anyone to figure that out. that includes a pediatric neurologist who treated her for headaches for several years.
shrinks dx'd her w ptsd, because she saw people following her in her peripheral vision. that should have been a clue. but shrinks still seem to think that minds and brains are not the same thing.

anxiety is her constant companion.
she finally started having grand mal seizures, which tipped them off.

maybe you should seek out an expert in tbi. they are always visible on common tests. kiddo had several ct's and mri's that showed nothing. she has to be hospitalized for eeg that lit up almost right away.

so hard to live w a broken brain.
