Psychologist starts Instagram series regarding mental health and well-being during COVID-19

MEMPHIS, Tennessee —

During uncertain times, some people don't know who they can turn to for help. Dr. Michael W. Davidson is here for those seeking professional help from self-care to general well-being.

Since Davidson is not currently seeing patients in his Cordova office, he has taken seeing clients to alternative platforms such as Skype, Zoom, or even just a phone call. Unable to sit face-to-face with his clients, he needed to come up with a way to reach more people. What started as an idea quickly made its way to the digital world of Instgram Television or IGTV.

On your theoretical orientation.

You might google:

CG Jung
Alfred Adler
Erich Fromm

Those are some good theorists to start with for self-awareness & introspection.

Art & music therapy lend non-discursive elements.

You might try reading:

"Art is a way of knowing," by Pat B. Allen.

This is all process-based art to connect with your own unconscious. Great stuff - super great!

I hope this is helpful to you. When you find resonance with a theorists work, then things might well click for you.

Jung is psychospiritual & analytical.

Adler felt distress to be caused by feelings of inferiority. (He was sickly early in life, which helped to shape his theory.)

Fromm's work is based upon the premise that difficulties arise from people being separated: from themselves, others, & nature.

"The art of loving" is a great read.

Ps - I do not use social media either.

I introspect way too much. That's the problem. I like Jung. Fromm as well.

Looking up experiential therapy, too.

I enjoy Jung's work too. The only theory that simply cannot be fully explained in <10 words. Lol

Movement therapy? Tai chi?
