Parkinson's, nausea and $$$$ for relief

Mr. Thirties was diagnosed with Parkinson's on September 30, and was prescribed Carbidopa-Levodopa 25-100 three times a day. It's known to cause nausea for the first month; Mr. Thirties is still queasy to the point of not eating. I called the National Parkinson's Foundation for advice, was told he should drink Ginger Ale and ginger tea, and could also take Lodosyn for the nausea. Fine. I went to Kroger this afternoon to pick up the Lodosyn.

$1604.80 for 60 pills.

I guess we can ask the neurologist to call the prescription in to Aetna Home Delivery, and ask them to pay for it. (We are fortunate to have prescription coverage - now $70 for a 90-day prescription.) I don't think anyone, private person or even big insurance company, should have to pay that kind of money.

Our daughter lives in England and earlier this year spent nine days in the hospital, attended by all sorts of specialists and subject of all sorts of tests. Cost to her. Zilch. Maybe someday over here. Or, judging from Tuesday, maybe not. Sigh.

I live in Florida where the measure was defeated.

I take different medications that make me feel pretty horrible, plus my condition(s) make me feel generally crappy a lot of the time.

If you live in a medical cannabis state, you can find someone at most dispensaries who can help you find what you need. If you live in a backwards state that seeks to punish people for a harmless substance, I hope that you can find someone else to help.

Good luck.

If he will agree to try it, I can probably get it from one of our kids. Thanks for the suggestion.
