and I hope there will be more episodes. It has a very unique storyline and I liked how they wove the tales between past and present. That scruffy samurai character is great and unintentionally, he's quite funny.

My wife immigrated from Japan and she really enjoyed the food. It also got us talking a lot about the cultural differences between the two countries. It was fun.

You might also like "Tokyo Stories". That is about a late night diner where the food and the cook ties the customer stories together.

..the first episode where the lady taxi driver was an ex-TV superhero and at the end of the show all the old cast members gather together for a meal... it was an awesome episode... looking forward to the rest of the series...!!!

And you're right... besides the food porn and the samurai visions, the series does show enough of the cultural norms there that an interesting discussion can be had about the cultural differences between our two countries...
