Almost meatless!
My meat consumption is down 75%. I don’t brag about it and preach about it. When I got my heart attack in 20017, I had a personal revolution. I stopped smoking then I changed my diet. Next thing I want to do is more exercising. Getting back to this meat thing. I am doing less meat because meat clogs your arteries and because of the cruelty done to animals. So it’s for health reasons and moral reasons. I hope to be 100% vegetarian in a couple of months. Like many Americans I love Burgers and fries. Burgers Kings “Impossible burger” is a great meat substitute. I also love my Soy Beacon. Taste like the real thing. I want to live to see the first Jewish president.

1. congrats!
It's proven to help
![]() I'm working on being more vegan. I aspire to no oil cooking - though I still have a daughter here at the house. I think when she goes to college it will be possible. As it is, I do try! |

2. I am now almost exclusively poultry and fish
and the "impossible burgers" are surprisingly good.
I can't remeber the last time I had beef or pork. |

3. Great, I quit 5 years ago, smoking.
Lost 30 pounds and now run 4 to 6 miles every other day. Lungs tested and better than normal. Just read a story about ex smokers staying away from B vitamins. You can google it for more info.
I try to eat only grass fed meat like goat, lamb and deer. So, not much. 70 years old and never thought I'd make it this far and now I'm back to the weight I was when I got out of high school and was never a runner before. |

4. Try Miso
Hi, Longtime vegetarian here.
Look for miso paste, it is a fermented bean or grain product from Japan that is a super food that dates at least to the samurai period, reserved for nobles only. It makes your gut biome better able to digest vegetable protein. Broccoli has more protein than steak, fyi. Find a liquid or sublingual B12 supplement, veggies and old's both need that. For heart health vitamin K and melatonin. Tahini, sesame paste is great to make sauces, and confections. We make a vegan mayo w tahini for coleslaw. Quality olive oil, fresh ground black pepper and organic herbs all good for circulation. One recipe, get brewer's or nutritional yeast, Bragg's not red star, and take tofu, cut thin 1/3 inch slices, dredge some yeast on both sides and saute on the stove. Tempeh is a fermented soy product, that is lower in estrogen and can be used in recipes. And I like vegan chicken especially eating out. Welcome to your new health hobby. |

5. Heres the proof from my fav medical doc.. He reads all the journals and we benifit
https://nutritionfacts.org/2020/02/25/proof-that-lifelong-cholesterol-reduction-prevents-heart-disease/
All good stuff... another good recourse is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forks_Over_Knives Dr Esselstyn, cardiologist from the Cleveland Clinic has documented proof that a whole food plant low fat diet reverses coronary plaque. He has shown Coronary Angiograms with reversal of plaque.. It's amazing to see the before and after pic's... Many people have benefited from this way of eating... Just to start taking one day of the week as a no cholesterol day... easy peasy.. Works for me YMMV m |
