Ashley Judd Slaps Media in the Face for Speculation Over Her ‘Puffy’ Appearance

http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2012/04/09/ashley-judd-slaps-media-in-the-face-for-speculation-over-her-puffy-appearance.html

That women are joining in the ongoing disassembling of my appearance is salient. Patriarchy is not men. Patriarchy is a system in which both women and men participate. It privileges, inter alia, the interests of boys and men over the bodily integrity, autonomy, and dignity of girls and women. It is subtle, insidious, and never more dangerous than when women passionately deny that they themselves are engaging in it.

It's not just a good read. It's a brilliant read

I'm from her part of the country. She was beloved in Kentucky until she started becoming newsworthy on Women's Issues; then I noticed a big change and people started hating on her. Pretty disgusting and obvious. I believe the attacks on her are both patriarchy, and politics (if the two can ever be separated), she is a known Liberal. For shame!

Women need to realize how much we participate in the patriarchy. We are born in it and tend to use it to better ourselves as much as possible without even thinking, because that gets approval from men. It's very devious.

That was a brilliant read. Thanks!

I have always admired her for being so outspoken for choice even though she had to know it would alienate a lot of her fans.
