Straight high schooler invites gay best friend to prom
http://www.newnownext.com/straight-high-schooler-invites-gay-best-friend-to-the-prom/04/2015/
It’s prom season, so we expected to read a lot of stories about lonely teenagers asking celebrities to be their dates. What we didn’t expect is the totally awesome Jacob Lescenski of Las Vegas to ask his best friend Anthony Martinez to prom. Jacob is straight, and Anthony is gay, but Jacob figured who better to go to the dance with than someone he considers a brother? Jacob popped the question by unfurling a giant banner that read “You’re hella gay, I’m hella str8, but you’re like my brother so be my d8!” Anthony is on the student council, and is often responsible for planning school dances, but lamented that he never gets asked to go.

3. Wonderful!
I hope they have a fantastic time! Even better, since it wasn't mentioned in the article there was any conflict, is that his parents and school support him.

4. Good kids
Their parents raised some beautiful people. The banner is hilarious too.

6. What an uplift
This, after tuning into CSPAN this morning and listening to religious bigots defending "marriage is between man and woman."

10. The kids are all right. (Yes, I know the actual song title spells it "alright," but as an
English teacher I just can't make myself write it that way. Grammar and usage errors make me {sic}.)

11. Oh well ...
I guess the traditional room at a Holiday Inn after the prom is out of the question.
