(MLB) A’s Closer, Girlfriend Buying Tickets To LGBT Pride Night To Fill Stands
The Oakland A’s are hosting their first LGBT Pride Night this year, and not all season ticket holders want to go. Luckily, A’s closer Sean Doolittle’s girlfriend came up with the perfect solution. Eireann Dolan, who has two mothers who are diehard Oakland fans, wrote in a blog post last Friday that although she “was saddened to read some of the replies about their decision to have a night of inclusion for the LGBT community,” she and Doolittle gladly will buy the tickets of anyone who doesn’t want to go in an effort to fill the stadium.
“Everybody is entitled to their own beliefs and as long as nobody is getting hurt, I’m happy,” Dolan wrote. “I also can’t stop you from selling your tickets. I won’t tell you that you are wrong or that you are not allowed to think or act that way. … If attending a baseball game on LGBT Pride Night makes you at all uncomfortable, it is probably a good idea to sell your tickets. And I have the perfect buyer. ME!”
Dolan and Doolittle are going to donate tickets to the June 17 game against the San Diego Padres to the Bay Area Youth Center’s Our Space community for homeless LGBTQ youth. Dolan also started a GoFundMe page, and as of Wednesday night, they had collected over $18,000 that will go toward tickets and donations.
