Not only has Honey Maid created one of the loveliest gay family-inclusive ads we've seen yet, check out the message they issued today to the people who now say that Satan runs their company. Most companies that create gay-positive messages try to ignore or downplay the negative reactions they receive. NOT Honey Maid. This will be one of the best and boldest messages like this that you've ever seen.
On edit: I shared it from my Facebook account and it's the most shared post I ever made.

(15,377 posts)I was hoping that the message to the haters would be, "We hired a couple of people to roll these messages up soooooo tight so we could send them back to you so you could stick them you know where."
The actual message was okay too.

(12,233 posts)I really don't think Sen Cruz expected to hear that so many people were having a better, more positive experience having health insurance regulations and the ability to purchase it, in some cases, for the very first time. They live in their bubble of the same programming and web sites and regurgitated falsified testimonials of a bad full of people. The reality is, most people are somewhat progressive and liberal. It's just a matter of trying to get these normal, everyday Americans involved in the most important aspect of their lives; which is choosing the people to represent them during elections.

(5,399 posts)The graham cracker was originally conceived of as a health food as part of the Graham Diet, a regimen to suppress what he considered unhealthy carnal urges, the source of many maladies according to Graham. Reverend Graham would often lecture on "self-abuse" as masturbation was commonly called at the time. Graham would often say how these experiences were inspired by children eating crackers. One of his many theories was that one could curb one's sexual appetite by eating bland foods. (from Wikipedia)
So, invented by a tight-ass who was scared of sex, now manufactured by enlightened souls who think we all deserve to love whomever our hearts desire...
Bravo, Honey Maid! I'm buying a box tonight!

(31 posts)No company would have touched this just a couple years ago, but advertisers know where the money is. So apparently there are many more Americans with whom this will resonate, and will buy Honey Maid because they feel that company supports their values. Worked on me! I usually buy organic products but I'll eat a GMO-laced cracker if it means promoting diversity!

They don't even realize that they have already lost the battle with everyone else who believes Love is far stronger than Hate.

(1,145 posts)...featuring an interracial couple, I've noticed many more companies are getting into the habit of diversifying their commercials to show what this country is really like. I'm happy that Honeymaid didn't cow before the conservative haters!

(95,337 posts)I'll be the first to admit that I spent the beginning years of my life beliving what my church and my narrow-minded school mates told me - that Gay people were sinners, doomed to rot in hell and worthy of hateful slurs tossed at them. Not my proudest moments during my teenage years but to be fair my part in all of this was more silence and allowing others to be bully than doing the right thing.
But like many people, as I got older I got wiser and I started to question those who were negative towards the LGBTQ community. And I realized one thing about those that were opposed to gay rights - these were people full of hate and anger. You mention something about homosexuality around these people their faces would turn red in anger as they tossed off the vilest of hate.
And then I met some gays & lesbians and what I saw about them was the exact opposite - I saw love. Love, happiness, little judgement, friendship. I found that I liked hanging out with these poeple more than my old 'friends' from high school. Who wants to hang out with hateful angry people when you can hang out with loving, happy fun people.
So in the end the reason why I support LGBTQ causes - it's simple: Love vs. Hate. Love just makes this world a better place and me a happier person. Too much hate is toxic and who wants to be around that?

(12,370 posts)Benghazi?
I'm laughing because I went to take care of a patient yesterday and had to work through an hour of Fox Noise. It was 30 minutes of Benghazi and thirty of whine, bitch, complain. Nothing in their world is a positive. They feed hate and the types of haters that wrote that trash to Honey Graham.
Thank Goodness that there are a few responsible corporations left in this country. And I'm not naive; I recognize that they are savvy in taking the pulse of today's consumers and using these trends to sell their product. But nevertheless, they didn't back down or ignore the bullies. Kudos, and s'mores on my dessert menu tonight.

(4,959 posts)I just learned this (acrylamide issue) myself, while trying to find an ingredients list for the EU version of the product (guaranteed to be GMO-FREE), but no luck.
Health Canada's Revised Exposure Assessment of Acrylamide in Food
August 2012
Appendix 1 - Concentrations of acrylamide in food products, on an as-consumed basis, available in Canada (µg/kg of food or parts per billion (ppb)).
This table is considered a snapshot of a small proportion of the products that are available on the Canadian market and do not represent all brands and product types. No particular inference should be drawn from the presence or absence of any brand from this survey. The absence of a particular brand simply means that it was not sampled and does not mean that it would have either similar or dissimilar levels of acrylamide as those in brands of the same food listed below. Differences in acrylamide levels between foods and brands do not necessarily reflect differences in exposure or potential risk that would be faced by consumers, and should not be used as indices of healthy product choices.
Table of concentrations of acrylamide in food products, on an as-consumed basis, available in Canada (µg/kg of food or parts per billion (ppb))

- Honey Maid is STILL made by Nabisco, Nabisco is STILL active in the Grocery Management Association, and neither wants Americans to know whether or not there are GMOs in their food. Nabisco is NOT on the side of the people, they are of and for the Corporatocracy! So, let's not be fooled by some slick, Hallmark-inspired you-tube video!
- No matter how "feel good" this is it still doesn't change the fact that all Nabisco products contain GMOs.
- Really!? No matter how touchy feely that video is it doesn't take away the fact that all Nabisco products are full of GMOs.
