Why I outed a Christian star

"Ever since I outed an up-and-coming evangelical leader named Jonathan Merritt on my blog on July 23, one sentence has been running through my mind: I might have destroyed his life."

IMO, the outing was warranted. If anyone was destroying his life it was Mr. Merritt himself, by embracing the closet and promoting a closet agenda.

Reading the article, it seems to me that he outed the man because he never called him back? I could be wrong, but that's how it read to me.

This is especially true when it comes to those in positions of power and influence. Those include people in politics and involved in the shaping and application of public policy, education and the dissemination of information and knowledge and anyone that has a position of confidence. Those would be counselors, therapists, spiritual leaders and advisors, etc.

If these individuals are closeted but do not engage in anti-gay speech or actions they should not be disturbed.

But most often they are in fact engaged in speech and actions directed against LGBT persons. These people MUST be outed. I have less tolerance for hypocrisy than I do theft.
