Report: Hezbollah preparing to defend Damascus, strike Israel if Syria situation worsens

Hezbollah will only attack Israel if Iran approves strike; source says 10,000 fighters have been recruited by the Shi'ite group.

Hezbollah is preparing to defend Damascus from an invasion by the Syrian rebels following a possible US strike, as well as preparing for retaliation against Israel if the situation in the area calls for it, Lebanese sources told Saudi newspaper Okaz on Thursday.

The sources told the paper that the Shi'ite organization recruited 10,000 fighters, who were tasked to defend the Syrian capital in the event the Syrian army fails to thwart attacks on it from both the rebels and the United States.

An attack on Israel, however, will only take place "after receiving a specific order [to do so] from Iran," the sources told Okaz.

As for the content, yes, there most certainly should be plans considered for retaliatory strikes against Israel and the Gulf dictatorships in the event of foreign aggression. In the general sense, that is not what I plead incredulity about. However, I don't see anything in Sharmine's piece (or any other paper that is fit for something more than wiping) about 10,000 Hizbullah fighters recruited for the defense of Damascus or other intricate details.

Intricate details that were, let's face it, entirely concocted by the Saudi sources that Israeli papers love to quote from these days. On that happy note: the Zionists surely must know that the Wahhabis officially hate the Jews, right? This alliance between Saudi(GCC)/Israeli interests just seems bonkers to me, but it's just as well that they fall together so I suppose I shouldn't bother trying to understand it.
