'Khamenei told me that Israel must be burned to the ground'

Former Spanish Prime Minister Jose Maria Aznar tells crowd in Jerusalem that during meeting with Iran's supreme leader in 2000, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said, "War against the United States and Israel is inevitable."

....

"In a private discussion we held in Tehran in October of 2000, Ali Khamenei told me that Israel must be burned to the ground and made to disappear from the face of the Earth," Aznar told the audience. The former Spanish prime minister went on to say that Iran's spiritual leader also said that "Iran's war against the United States and Israel is inevitable."

Aznar was in Israel as a guest of the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs, currently headed by former Israeli ambassador to the United Nations Dr. Dore Gold.

Gold asked him, "When Khamenei was talking about wiping Israel off the map, was he referring to a gradual historical process involving the collapse of the Zionist state, or rather its physical-military termination?"

Aznar answered, "He meant physical termination through military force."
The former Spanish leader also told the crowd that Khamenei described Israel as "an historical cancer, an anomaly," and said that he was "working toward Iran defeating the United States and Israel in an inevitable war against them."

I'm appalled that you would think respectable folks like those above would deliberately misstate facts to further their geopolitical agenda.

Totally in line with the Neanderthal regime assholes in Iran.

I love the Iran apologists whose hatred of Israel overrides the obvious fact that the Iran warmongers are a threat to Israel and the ME.

If they want to start a war , they will get get a lot more they bargained for.

They'll ignore all of Iran's threats to destroy Israel (all misinterpretations of course) for the sole reason that they hate Israel (and/or its Jews).

So b/c of that hate, they don't mind Iran with nukes and say that Israel is just making shit up.

Iran is a threat to the entire West once they're able to increase the range of its rockets/missiles so that they can hit anywhere on earth.

But because of hate, the obvious is ignored.

This hate is one of the reasons civilizations die. Hate leads to irrational, stupid decisions and policies. So does misguided ideology for that matter....

dozen years ago but more about Aznar and JPosts take on this

'Putin said Israel would take care of Iran'

Aznar, speaking on Wednesday at the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs about a meeting he had with Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in 2000, said Putin’s comments came after he entreated the Russian president not to sell S300 surface- to-air missiles to Iran.

Aznar, one of the few Western leaders to have met Khamenei, said the Iranian leader made it clear when they met in October 2000 that “Israel was a historic cancer and an anomaly, a country to be put in flames and condemned to disappear.”

Aznar added that he found in Khamenei a man not only inspired by faith, but also “more nationalistic than I imagined.” He said the ayatollah wanted Iran to flourish in all fields, especially science and technology, to attain self-sufficiency and independence.

It was this desire for self-sufficiency, he said, which has led the Iranians to strive to develop their own nuclear weapons, rather than buy a bomb from North Korea or Pakistan.

I woke up this morning wondering how Aznar would find a way to whore himself out for the next series of war crimes, since he was such a fine collaborator in the mass murder of several hundred thousand Iraqis. And then, POOF: all of my prayers and questions answered. Thanks shira!

Note how well certain right-wing DUers play in the sandbox with a NewsCorp Director, son of a Falangist both skilled in propaganda and a minister in the Franco Government.

Khameni supposedly said this 12 years ago and hasn't exactly done much to achieve this "goal."

Meanwhile, Bibi meets with his cabinet to plot war.

I call NewsCorp. bullshit.

Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Hassan Firouzabadi said threats and pressures cannot deter Iran from its revolutionary causes and ideals, and stressed that the Iranian nation will remain committed to the full annihilation of the Zionist regime of Israel to the end.

Obviously more Zionist Propaganda. They've apparently taken control of english fars news. If they can control Iran's Press, then I guess it's true!

There really is a Jewish Worldwide Media Conspiracy!
