Cold showers

I love indoor plumbing! I just love it!
It's easily my favorite thing about living in a post-industrial society.

I start every single day with a hot shower and I always remember to think about how great it is that I get to take one.
I also know it's bad for my skin and hair, and I should cool it down.
And I started to think that what I like about my hot shower is just the fact that I am deliberately thankful for it. I can do without the heat.

So today I took a cold shower. And it was nice. I did not like when the cold water hit the area above my heart.
But otherwise-- just as good and clean and awake.
And I was thankful for it.

Full disclosure I did not hang out in the shower as long as I would do if it were steaming hot.

I'll keep it up..

Do you take cold showers?

1. Don't care for cold

I can make do with lukewarm.

My wife, on the other hand, prepare to enter a bathroom-turned-sauna when she's done in the shower! I don't know how she can stand water that hot.

3. Some women have really low blood pressure. Like kids'. Maybe your wife is like that.

I don't like air conditioning or icy drinks, but damn I love the heat. Like a lizard.

2. No cold showers for me. I take quickie showers (in and out in 5 minutes or less),

but I require the water to be warmer than body temp.

6. When we lost heat pierside while I was in the Navy, VERY cold showers was the norm.

One could see their breath as you walked from Weps Berthing to the afterhead where the showers were located. I'd turn on the water, hold my hand into the shower stream for a minute of so while I steeled myself then take a deep breath and jump into the shower. After the initial shock, I'd wet down enough to lather up and shut the water off. After shampooing my hair and soaping myself up, I'd scrub for a bit before turning the water back on to rinse off.

Cold showers are not my cup of tea.
