Fukishima update:

1. Tepco releases document “in response to the concern that Unit 4 spent fuel pool may collapse”
— “1st Inspection” begins tomorrow

They say "we will continue our inspections 4 times a year to insure soundness."
Plus, this excerpt from the report:
"North/East surfaces cannot be measured they’re blocked by existing buildings."

...for someone to read "1st inspection" to mean "the darn thing blew up over a year ago and we're just now getting around to inspecting the darn thing" ?

to be fair, trying to get in close enough to see into the wreckage is a massive problem considering the radiation.
But..TEPCO has not done much to get the public on its side, has it?

Such a reading would be ridiculous. They're clearly talking about the first time they will use the new ongoing process they're talking about.

Not really. This is unit #4 we're talking about. They've been through the building, done structural analysis (and put in additional supports and poured concrete), and they've removed large sections of the building (including right around/above the fuel pool). Of course this removal was almost immediately broadcast around the web as "Unit 4 has collapsed!!!!"

But..TEPCO has not done much to get the public on its side, has it?

Certainly not very effectively.
