Arctic Ice trend-watching

Last edited Sat May 28, 2016, 09:43 AM - Edit history (3)

A couple of days ago I posted this first graphic showing the JAXA ice extent data up to May 13, with a trend projection to the end of May:

I've decided to make this a series, and I'll be posting an update every couple of days until the end of the month. Here is the May 15 data:

May 17:

May 22:

The decline is drifting a bit above the trend line. but still shows the extent breaking below 10 million sq. km by the end of the month.

May 24:

The trend has turned down again.

May 27:

Looks like it won't hit 10M km^2 by the end of the month after all.

based on some weather changes over the next few days.

We could have some strange weather in North America this year.

That is already some strange weather.

Also so wet here that none of the local corn/soy fields have been prepared for planting yet....

I've been watching his blog since the 2007 melt. He has quite the crew of contributors.
