Former employee shoots herself in lobby of York women's prison

Authorities Monday were investigating why an armed former employee of the Nebraska Correctional Center for Women in York walked into the public lobby and demanded to be let in before shooting herself in the chin.
Robin K. Staehr, 50, of York was transported to the hospital with injuries that weren’t life-threatening, according to a press release from the Department of Correctional Services.
A spokeswoman at Bryan Medical Center’s west campus in Lincoln said Monday that Staehr was in critical condition.
No other injuries were reported.
