Groceries

I need to start keeping better track of the price of groceries, since it seems silly to post the price of one item. Mind you, I'm not making any sweeping generalizations, but just making an observation.

Barowsky's Organic Whole Wheat Bread: $5.39.

Okay, the wheat is whole and the production is organic. But still, more than $5 for a loaf of bread. I have to get back to the bread machine. I'll let you know what that costs.

And don't get me started on eggs.

Which will be good, since ultimately it will free up more grain, etc...

before you spend money on a bread machine (assuming you have an oven and a heavy covered pan)

no knead bread changed my life...

still... that does not help with the rising cost of foodstuffs.

There are also recipes that substitute white whole wheat, (which can easily make a brick if you don't get it wet enough) but anyone that eats bread a lot should really try no-knead. It's good stuff.

so most of what I'll need are fruits and veg and the occasional bag of brown rice or gluten free baked goody splurge.

Because the flint corn crop collapsed, I'm afraid meat, especially poultry, is going to go through the roof. There are going to be a lot of hungry people out there this winter if they don't know how to cook and be flexible about where they get their proteins.

I went to the grocery today and my bill was about average.

The prices are going up because of the failed government policy of inflation, it steals from the poor and gives to the rich. Just keep up those trillion dollar deficits and soon all the poor will starve, just as the statists want.
