Guaido calls for mass protests ahead of return to Venezuela Monday

3 MAR 2019

Venezuela's opposition leader Juan Guaido called for mass protests across the country against President Nicolas Maduro on Monday as he announced his return after a week touring Latin American allies.

His reappearance in Venezuela would pose an immediate challenge to the embattled Maduro, who will have to decide whether to arrest him for defying a travel ban -- thereby provoking strong international condemnation -- or allow him to enter unmolested, which would undermine his authority, analyst say.

"I'm announcing my return to the country. I am calling on the Venezuelan people to mobilize all over the country tomorrow at 11:00 am (1500 GMT)," Guaido said in a Twitter message Sunday.

Guaido, who has been recognized by more than 50 countries as interim president, gave no details of when or how he would return, though speculation is rife that a flight from the Colombian capital Bogota to Caracas is the most likely route.

1. Step-daughter #2 is quitting the country and leaving on Monday for Spain if........

.........she can get her flight out of Aeropuerto Internacional de Maiquetía. That's not a given yet if Guaido happens to be entering the country at the same time through the same airport.

Yet another family fracture thanks to chavismo.

3. Thanks, but you've got my step-daughters confused....

.....the first one fled the country in late January to seek medical attention for her child. She's already receiving the medical care she desperately needs in Madrid. The second one is healthy and definitely of sound mind and body. She's more sane actually than those of us who chose to remain here.

4. Ooops. Sorry.

The last of my family left about 2.5 years ago. Though we do have some Chavista family there, but they insist that "things are about to change for the better!" now that all the traitors are leaving... or being imprisoned. Or being killed.

5. Amazing how their minds work, isn't it?

Things are about to change for the better AFTER 20 years of chavismo.

Sounds like your chavista family figure that if enough people are run out of the country, or just quit the country, then it'll eventually reach some equilibrium where they can get their fair share of what's left. What they haven't figured out is that chavismo will continue to run the country into the ground until there's nothing left for anyone.

I'd call chavismo a parasite, but most parasites don't kill their host. Chavismo is more of a malignant cancer.
