Luis Florido, president of the Foreign Policy Commission of the National Assembly (AN), sent Friday a communication to the president of the 72nd session of the General Assembly of the United Nations Organization, Miroslav Lajčák, in which they do not recognize Samuel Moncada as Venezuela's ambassador to the UN.
"We sent communication to the president of the UN General Assembly, Miroslav Lajčák: national and international ignorance of Samuel Moncada as ambassador," Florido said.
Through a statement the AN explained that,
according to Article 187 of the Constitution of the Republic, the appointment of the heads of diplomatic missions corresponds to the Legislative Branch, so it considered the appointment of Moncada as a violation of the Constitution.
"We do not endorse, and ignore from the National Assembly, elected by 14 million Venezuelans on December 6, 2015, the appointment of Mr. Samuel Moncada Acosta as ambassador, permanent representative of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the United Nations Organization", expressed the statement.
