It looks deeply interesting. I'm still near the first, hearing very authentic old country songs, with amazing unusual, authentic drums. I have noticed over the years, that Cuba definitely seems to respect the traditions and ways passed on through generations of the early enormous population of African people who were forced into slavery in Cuba. They are very openly, and warmly accepted everywhere, from what I have seen in photos and videos.

That's another deep change since the beginning of the revolution, when Cuba stopped being a wildly racist society. Of course those who left became someone else's problems, didn't they? Good for Cuba.

I saw a sign which made reference to Compay Segundo, so I wondered if it was his birthday, or something. Looked him up, said he lived 18 November 1907 – 13 July 2003, so it's very close to the day he died in 2003.

Some fantastic dancing in carnival-like costumes. I suspect some of them were fashioned to resemble the Spanish conquerors. There is such rapor among the people. It truly has a great vibe right there in that square.

Is the town Santiago? Just curious.

Will continue to watch this. So damned interesting. It would be a great thing to see in person. This is a good substitute.

On edit, a wonderful parade, featuring beautiful, unusual costumes and dancers from Latin American, Caribbean countries. Wow. They are wonderful. To be there in person would be fantastic.
