http://www.eluniversal.com/economia/140423/venezuelan-govt-asks-businesses-to-lend-it-a-handThe Venezuelan government and businesses held on Wednesday a meeting in the context of the National Peace Economic Conference. Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro would join the gathering later.
The Head of State was expected to disclose the measures to be implemented as part of the "new economic offensive," originally scheduled for Tuesday, April 22, and later deferred to Friday, April 25, when inspections throughout the nation will begin.
Venezuelan Vice-President Jorge Arreaza, along with Minister of Trade Dante Rivas and Minister of Industries José David Cabello headed the meeting. The vice-president availed himself of the opportunity to express the need to "build together the country outlined in the Homeland Plan."
"President Maduro is trying to find the way to unleash productive forces, and we need you to tell us how," Arreaza told businesspersons.

(13,685 posts)Sounds kinda like Obama has asked of American companies.
I wonder if Maduro faces the same kind of cold-hearted crooks as Obama does?
Dumb question, I know. We know the crooks Maduro deals with are far more crooked and cold-hearted than our precious republicans like Boehner and McConnel. Heck, compared to Maduro, Obama has it easy.
Maduro sure doesn't sound like a dictator at all. Sounds more like a Democratic governor.

(14,732 posts)Obama refused to let import businesses obtain foreign exchange to pay for their imports, resulting in them struggling to keep their businesses open due to lack of merchandise to sell? Nope - I don't either. But you're right. The similarities are striking.

(2,035 posts)Hence why he's asking help from private entities. The government has screwed up the economy so badly that they have to resort to do business with private companies and seek advice from them since obviously they have more experience and knowledge about managing an economy than he and the rest of the government boligarchs crooks do.

(13,685 posts)The poor people of Venezuela have benefited greatly.
Education and housing. Two of the most limiting things in a human's life are two problems being conquered.
The problem is, like we have had in the US, rich people, having never endured the problems of getting a good education and good shelter, don't think it to be a problem. Never was for them so they just can't grok it would be for the poor. Besides those facts, having poor people begging you for food puts the rich at a great personal advantage. The rich love that advantage. Where would they get their cheap labor if there were no poor, uneducated and homeless servants?

(13,685 posts)That's the type of crap the elected government of Venezuela has been putting up with for too long.
The anti-Chavistas are losing. And you show why, eh? Nasty is their whole argument.

(13,685 posts)Really? If they didn't would you be complaining?
Are you so full of hate that you are blinded by it?
It is evident to anyone not full of hate that the elected government is not a dictatorship.
Say, do you have business interests there as do some of the other ranters here?

How about dazzling us with more of your economic "jenius" by explaining the difference between importers and exporters, professor?

(13,685 posts)For the poor. The poor are a lot better now. You think that isn't true?
The rich are mad because their pillaging is over. This economy is not working for them as well as the economy before did. They are having to share wealth.

(13,685 posts)You are funny.
The poor people are doing better. The rich, not so much. I guess that makes you angry? Tough, tough guy.
The change has come to Venezuela and all you can do is sit back and watch. You must feel awful? That's why you spew your hate?
