No official version of shoot out at Vista Hermosa prison

After a confrontation Sunday at the Vista Hermosa prison between National Guard, prison guards, and prisoners the head prisoner (pran) Wilmer Brizuela stated "Let me be clear for everyone while I have in my hands the ability to defend the peace and tranquility of all my companions in Vista Hermosa, I will do what is necessary. I won't let anyone perturb the tranquility of alls. The peace will continue in all of Ciudad Bolivar (the city nearby) just as it has come every day. I am a man of my word and will maintain firm just as those warriors that have conquered this universe," he indicated the message from the prison in Bolivar.

There has been no word from the Ven Prison Director and attempts to contact here were unanswered. The prison is one of 14 in Venezuela under control of the Ministry. However, the prisoners carry weapons and the prison is under the control of the pran.

“Déjenme aclararles a todos que mientras yo, Wilmer Brizuela, tenga en mis manos cómo defender la paz y la tranquilidad de todos mis compañeros de Vista Hermosa, lo haré como sea necesario. No dejaré que nada ni nadie perturbe la tranquilidad de todos. La paz seguirá en toda Ciudad Bolívar como se ha venido haciendo todos estos días. Soy un hombre de palabra y me mantendré firme como los guerreros que han conquistado este universo”, indica la cadena enviada desde el penal de Bolívar.



Ayer se intentó contactar a la ministra de Servicio Penitenciario para obtener la versión oficial de lo ocurrido en la cárcel de Ciudad Bolívar, pero ni ella ni su equipo de prensa contestaron los teléfonos. La versión de que hay cuatro personas heridas son sólo informaciones aportadas por familiares de reclusos y vecinos de la zona adyacente al penal.

La cárcel de Vista Hermosa es una de las 14 que supuestamente está bajo el control del ministerio y donde hay régimen penitenciario, de acuerdo con la ministra Varela. Sin embargo, en este centro de reclusión los presos aún tienen armas de fuego y todo el control está en manos de Wilmer Brizuela.

1. Venezuela has a bizarre penitentiary system

They allow heavily armed inmates to control the prisons....then they try to regain control and have massacres where hundreds of prisoners die. It seems like a gross human right abuse to put somebody in a place like that.

they are simply being held there in the same place and area where the convicted are.
