Hillary Clinton
Related: About this forumSo Is Jane Sanders Lying About Inability To Access Tax Records OR
or is she lying about using TurboTax?
Cause both claims can't be true.
She claims they used TurboTax. If true, all you need to do is log onto TurboTax to access files.
No need to go home and sort through boxes. Being "busy" is a non-issue.
So which is it, Jane? Do you use TurboTax or not? If you do, release your tax records. If you don't, why did you say you did?
You KNOW the media would be beating this to death if it were the Clintons.

(107,869 posts)Turbo Tax Deluxe to be exact. It saves all your info in the PDF form. I'm pretty certain it would take no major effort on her part to get their complete 2014 returns.

(47,462 posts)Still, this is something they should have expected.
Oh, they will release their taxes when they "are due." Meaning the 2015 return and why will be very careful this time. I doubt we will have find out what made $53,000 itemized deductions in 2014. Unless the IRS will audit them but even the, we will not know the outcome.

(15,366 posts)extension.
As a US citizen who primarily resides abroad, I usually have an automatic filing extension to June, although I must show that I was not physically present in the US in April to avoid a late filing fee. This year and last, I have been physically present in the US and have thus filed federal and state returns before the April deadline.
The automatic extension only avoids late fees; it does not exempt me from interest owed on any outstanding tax due.

(67,782 posts).....securities. Intrinsically they have to have investments in fossil fuel companies, "Wall Shtreet", etc. Plus, he is getting a pension from Burlington, virtually every pension fund includes investments in a variety of businesses, securities, bonds, mutual funds.
They just don't have any invested directly in those, but they're profiting from them.

(15,366 posts)ANYONE with a pension plan, 401K or individual investments in mutual funds is actually benefiting from the financial system so decried by SBS advocates. And yes, the managers of large pension funds, 401K funds or other mutual funds most likely have invested at least some amounts in fossil fuels to diversify their portfolios. They would likely be failing in their fiduciary duties if not doing so. Those duties include making the best return for their investors, i.e., pension funds and 401Ks.
Those who are students and whose parents/grandparents set up 529 accounts or trusts of other types to help with higher education also profit from the investments the 529 accounts/trusts include, which may also include investments in fossil fuels. Ironically, many students who have the leisure to campaign for Bernie are profiting from these.
They really do need to think about this seriously. These casual pronouncements that certain things are intrinsically "evil" simply do not reflect the complexities of the real world. The "Bernie or bust" memes are simply ridiculous. Bernie is being very disingenuous in his whole approach.

As soon as my family started claiming tax deductions outside of EZ Form 1040, we went to 3rd party tax help - like H&R Block.
For just IRS transparency!

Last year we had kids in college and on health insurance. Tax credits and deductions.
Bernie and Jane just blissfully filed away on the internet or mailed it in? I don't think so.

She should still be able to access them easily through the Federal system though, without having to go home.
