From the beginning, many and probably most liberal policy wonks were skeptical about Bernie Sanders. On many major issues including the signature issues of his campaign, especially financial reform he seemed to go for easy slogans over hard thinking. And his political theory of change, his waving away of limits, seemed utterly unrealistic.
Some Sanders supporters responded angrily when these concerns were raised, immediately accusing anyone expressing doubts about their hero of being corrupt if not actually criminal. But intolerance and cultishness from some of a candidates supporters are one thing; what about the candidate himself?
Unfortunately, in the past few days the answer has become all too clear: Mr. Sanders is starting to sound like his worst followers. Bernie is becoming a Bernie Bro.
snip//
What probably set that off was a recent interview of Mr. Sanders by The Daily News, in which he repeatedly seemed unable to respond when pressed to go beyond his usual slogans. Mrs. Clinton, asked about that interview, was careful in her choice of words, suggesting that he hadnt done his homework.
But Mr. Sanders wasnt careful at all, declaring that what he considers Mrs. Clintons past sins, including her support for trade agreements and her vote to authorize the Iraq war for which she has apologized make her totally unfit for office.

(1,353 posts)Howard Fineman on msnbc said a little while ago that he's said that Bernie is not a nice person and that he was jumped on for saying that... There have been other senators/congressmen who have said he wasn't easy to work with... No surprise when your style of speaking is yelling and finger waving...it's very aggressive body language and body language comes from your heart...enough said.

Two things here; the fact that it was his worst followers that were referenced to. It speaks a great deal about his voters in general.
The word "followers." This is a word you use for those belonging to religious groups and cults, small and large. I don't know about any of you but I'm not a Clinton "follower" and I don't think she wants them. Every indication I've seen leads me to believe that Hillary would prefer the enthusiastic support of thinking people over zealotry.

(30,058 posts)continue to get this confused? He really needs to get a history lesson before the next debate, this talking point is wrong and out of date. Yes, she worked on TPP, did not agree with the final presentation, Sanders knows this but he keeps on the same talking point. It is about the truth, Bernie, your pants are on fire.

There's another one titled "Beyond the Pale, Bernie" or..
Bernie Beyond the Pale
Bernie Sanders' comment that Hillary Clinton isn't qualified to be president didn't make for a proud campaign moment.
snip//
Sen. Bernie Sanders went beyond the pale this week by saying outright he did not think former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was qualified to be president.
His reason? He took a CNN report that the Clinton campaign was going to go hard against him and used that to incorrectly assert that Clinton was stating that Sanders is not qualified to be president. Let's be very clear: Hillary Clinton has never said any such thing. But now Sanders has gone there. But he quickly realized that this was neither a smart nor a strategically effective move for him as he tried to, kinda, sorta, walk the comment back. But he needs to do more, and so does his staff, who have doubled down on his original comments. They should completely retract their unfortunate comments and here's why.
For starters, the argument makes no sense. No matter what you think of her, no one believes that a former successful attorney in her own right, a former first lady of both Arkansas and of the United States, a former two-term senator from the great state of New York and a former successful and highly popular secretary of state is not qualified to be president. Even some of Sanders' supporters have been turned off by this over-the-line comment.
snip//
But this week, he hit below the belt, got personal and got nasty. Not even in the most intense days of the campaign between then-Senators Clinton and Barack Obama did either of them say the other was not qualified to be president.
