Hillary Clinton

When moderator Roland Martin followed up by asking Jackson if he was satisfied by Clinton's answer, he affirmed that he was.

When asked to name three specific ways in which she could help stop Trump (a question Sanders faced too), she answered it well. She reminded people that she is the only candidate to have received more votes than Trump, that she is well-tested on the political battlefield, and that she is uniquely qualified as a former secretary of state to make the case for a president with sound and serious judgment. Home run.

(30,058 posts)Oklahoma City bombing or the 9/11 bombing are situations where the death penalty may be in order. She answered this very well and direct without dancing off to another subject. She has a command on issues and her answers show her knowledge.

(51,502 posts)The auditorium was absolutely silent as Clinton spoke softly and deliberately, explaining that she considers capital punishment useful on the federal level only in extreme circumstances like terrorist attacks. She pointed to the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing as an example.
"I would breathe a sigh of relief if either the courts or the states themselves began to eliminate the death penalty," she said.
Then, Clinton turned to Jackson.
"What happened to you is a travesty and I can't even imagine what you went through and how terrible those days and nights must have been for all those years," she said.
"And I know that all of us are so regretful that you or any person has to go through what you did. And I hope that now that you are standing here before us that you will have whatever path in life you choose going forward."
It's moments like these that serve as a reminder of why this matters -- a moment of intimacy in a frenetic and loud year.

(284 posts)I trashed the forum, i trashed the thread, it still shows up on my front page under trending threads. I do not want to see any group on a Democratic Discussion forum where critical thought or comments is not encouraged and permitted. Please fix this.

Best to send the admins a private message or post your concerns in the Ask the Admin forum... and maybe consider self-deleting this post as well.

(1,630 posts)The difference between her responses and Bernie's was never clearer. It was obvious the people at the Town Hall thought so, too.
