More Pro Hillary, Less Anti Trump Please

I have a simple desire: I would like to see more pro Hillary campaigning from the left and less anti-Trump. We’ve come to the point where we know Trump is a clown, but all of the noise has made it difficult for me to get a handle on the person I will vote for in November. Who exactly is Hillary Clinton and what does she stand for?

I know that Hillary has been in the spotlight for decades and I should know from her record already everything I need to know, but there is a lack of narrative. Even though public figures should be careful with their emails in today’s world, I’m not moved by this story. I also know that it is across the US government that cybersecurity is lagging behind the times. What I don’t know comes down to what are our values as a nation. Are we just childish predators who are excited that we found someone’s mistake or are we truly concerned about email servers. The only thing I’ve learned from all of this is that my business needs to encrypt my data. I suspect even then, if someone really wanted in, they would get in.

This extends into the realm of the issues that matter to me. Because of the straw men stories out there I have a hard time figuring out if Hillary really is too hawkish for my tastes or if she is merely practical in a hostile world that sometimes requires force. Is her measured approach one that will ultimately lead to more results than being idealistic? I would love to see the campaign and the media explore these subjects, but instead I get a barrage of Trump is a buffoon or Hillary Benghazi!

I for one have grown fatigued at the current state of political discourse and it isn’t merely limited to Fox News. A vapid voice has become the narrator to our nation’s dialogue, so it’s no wonder that most people also discuss issues on a low level or simply tune out. We have more information and education available to us than at anytime in history, yet we are functioning as if we are only allowed to listen to our crazy drunk uncle to find out what’s happening in the world of politics.

And if I ever question a stance Hillary has taken or seems to support, the only response I seem to get is, ‘Would you rather have Trump?’ The answer is obviously ‘no’, but that doesn’t advance the discussion. I would still like to be able to examine the likely next president without a default response. I would like to consider who will lead us without it only being the opposite of obvious disaster. This dynamic doesn’t just avoid criticism. It becomes unnecessary to praise Hillary’s accomplishments, values and character in this climate, because all we need to know is Trump is, well, Donald Trump.

But I am personally excited by the idea that we could have a female president. The optics are incredible for every little girl and young woman out there. This shows that they could actually sit in the world’s most powerful seat. This shows that it’s not just a man’s world. I also hope that a woman president could bring a temperament to the Oval Office that has been lacking in our history of patriarchal leaders. All that said, it feels like we are in a junior high spat as to who the popular kid is leading up to the election. And I hope that just because Trump is an obvious no, doesn’t mean the only choice is a bad one.

1. here is one in LBN

Give it a Rec if you want. I try to find news articles each day that are positive about her. Not too many positive news articles about her lately. I do not want to post polls saying the race is tightening or about her emails or server or that type.

2. Here's a good place to answer a lot of your questions.

https://www.hillaryclinton.com/

And yes, showing what Trump would do to this country and his attitude towards everyone who is not a white male is just as important
as showing why Hillary is the right person to be President.

I love Hillary and have followed her since she was 1st Lady of Arkansas way back I in the 80's.

I hope I did not misread or misunderstand your post. I'm not sure if you are talking about this Group or the media in General.

Anyways welcome to the Hillary Group.

3. Member since...yesterday.

If the site was too anti-Trump for you, why'd you sign up? And why post in the pro-HRC Group about not enough pro-HRC content?

Motives: suspect

4. This Site Isn't Too Anti-Trump For Me

The point is that the anti-Trump stuff is so obvious and has just become noise. John Oliver compared it to a bed of nails. Because there is so much, it doesn't penetrate. But there needs to be a narrative that Hillary is good, not merely that Trump is so bad that you are stuck with her. When you make this the only narrative, you suppress enthusiasm which can have a major impact down ballot. And thanks for snipping at my 'member since yesterday status'. Attacking that shows further avoidance of any substance. I'm only a new member because I used to be a long posting member here, left and now returned. Paleeze

5. Those who claim there is no "enthusiasm" for Clinton didn't learn from the primary.

Hillary supporters express their excitement in the voting booth. Everything else is the real noise.

Or are you so blinded by some hypothetical fight you think you're in?

8. You're here in the HRC Group accusing us of being insufficiently pro-HRC

Of course I'm going to criticize such a position from someone who literally just got here yesterday. I'd even go so far as to say that I doubt you gave up your previous account voluntarily.

BTW, I found the article on International Policy Digest from which you paraphrased most of your OP.
http://intpolicydigest.org/2016/08/31/trump-s-incompetence-misses-point/

That author sounds like someone still bitterly fighting the primary. Careful how much if their work you cut and paste to DU.

13. As another new member

I did not read your post as being about this forum. Maybe I am naive but your first paragraph was generic not specific to this forum. I like your message.... the MSM especially never has anything positive about Hillary but they bend over backwards to find something pos to say about Trump. Ohhhh, did he look Presidential that time!!!! Maybe it is the turning point!!!!!! Oh, wow! But never anything nice to say about anything Hillary says or does. I get it.

7. "Who exactly is Hillary Clinton and what does she stand for? "

Willful ignorance is the only way anyone doesn't know what Clinton stands for. That is not a personal attack in my view. It is truly the ONLY way someone doesn't know what she stands for.

Please see my journal for a small amount of material on what she stands for. That being said, I don't take your op in honest. What you have presented truly isn't a plausible position.

11. The assumption is that it wasn't discussed. It WAS discussed AD NAUSEUM all through the primaries.

Thank god for the moratorium on it. I was counting down the days that DU pivoted to the GE. It was awful.

Honestly, by now, everyone should know where these candidates stand. If not, then they are willfully ignorant because we must have had 100 debates. Plus it was civil war on DU for an eternity.

You know why I am glad there is a moratorium on this? Because going into the GE, we need to be behind our candidate 100,000%. Anything else at this point in time is just window dressing to sew discontent and discord.

It doesn't matter if Hillary is too hawkish or too wallstreet or too anything. There is NO other choice. But, for the record, she will always be too something because she is a strong, brilliant woman and politician. Some of us are just tired of having to defend her from the constant barrage of RW criticisms. So it is no wonder you get the responses that you do. We are in GE mode.

12. your use of "hawkish"

A few weeks ago, a guest (I think it was a person w diplomatic background) responded to Chris Matthews 'concern' about Hillary's hawkishness. The guest said, paraphrasing but fairly accurate, "I don't know what to do with a word like hawkish. I think Hillary is strong. She is strong enough to stand up for our country when she needs to. I don't consider that 'hawkish.'"

That is how I look at it too. I think that everyone gets lulled into using right-wing words that do not really describe Hillary. Does she go about talking how we should go to war at the slightest provocation? No. She always says that war is a last resort, to be used only after all diplomatic approaches have failed and then only when the situation actually requires military action. One vote on Iraq (and it was not a vote to go to war!) does not make her a hawk.
