Bernie has run his course: The Sanders campaign has stopped being about winning and is now mostly about whining
Sanders used to add value to the campaign, but lately, all he does is sow unjustified paranoia and anger

It’s time for Bernie Sanders to admit that Hillary Clinton is winning the primary fair and square, and if he can’t do that, it’s time for him to quit.

Things have been getting sour for Team Sanders for weeks now, but, in the past week, the campaign took a decisive turn away from positive campaigning and actually trying to win towards focusing a baffling amount of energy on a futile narrative about how his losses don’t really count.

I wish it were otherwise, but there’s simply no nice way to put this. The Sanders camp has decided to focus on stoking half-baked complaints about process, complaints that don’t serve to win a single vote to their side. Instead, it seems about Sanders and his supporters insinuating that Clinton is winning by cheating. The behavior is not the behavior of people trying to win. It’s the behavior of someone who lost a hand of poker and is throwing his cards in his opponent’s face and screaming about how unfair it is that the other guy drew a better hand.

Things had already been getting ugly prior to the New York primary, with Sanders trying to dismiss the Clinton wins in the “deep South” by saying, “That is the most conservative part of this great country.”

10. Poked my toes in...

It may change, but at the moment the comments are rather interesting. I grabbed the 2nd one-

"Seen from the vantage point of the Socialist Republic of the United Kingdom (or so it should be be called, hearing some US friends talk), my head-shaking at Bernie has turned into full-on <facepalm> lately.

He is a man of principle - we get it - but he is also a political opportunist of the first order. My main question is: why now? If you were really committed to creating a new mass labor (sic) movement, or "revolutionary" "socialist" policies, you'd have started your own party years ago, wouldn't you?

Parallels with our own new Labour leader, Jeremy Corbyn, are misplaced, politically - Jezza makes Bern look like Mitt Romney - but structural parallels are there: a divided Left, seemingly more interested in Purity Wars than beating the real enemy.

Here, despite the worst government in living memory, Labour trails by 8-10 points in the most polls, untrusted on the economy, muddled on many other issues, failing to connect to many mainstream voters.

Take a warning from the other side of the Pond: don't let the same thing happen there. Trump (or Cruz) would not just be a disaster for the US but for the rest of the world."

6. Maryland looks even worse for him.

The fact is, he loses when he breaks even because of the super delegates and breaking even would be a miracle for him. After a month of living through the gloating of the Bernie Followers...this is really fun

7. It really will be more pain-free than they think

Hillary Clinton is a fighter and will get to work right away on the progressive plans she has outlined during her campaign--particularly if the Bernie supporters help make sure we have a solid down-ticket coalition to help in Congress and all over the country. They want action? They've got it--if they do their part, too. Rise up together!

12. You are so right, pandr32.

If the Bernie supporters could transfer the money, time, and enthusiasm to down-ticket races they could make a huge difference for the country, and come out of this brutal primary ahead instead of feeling defeated.

18. "Sanders used to add value to the campaign, but lately, all he does is sow unjustified paranoia and

Exactly true.. and lots of it.. Mahalo Amanda Marcotte!

Lots and LOTS of Whining! Got news for ya, BS.. your Losses do Count.

I wish it were otherwise, but there’s simply no nice way to put this. The Sanders camp has decided to focus on stoking half-baked complaints about process, complaints that don’t serve to win a single vote to their side. I cannot wait until the BS' campaign strategy of taking the lowest road possible blows up in their karmic induced face.

Mahalo, HS.. this is stellar analysis!
