Herd of drunk elephants go on the rampage

The absurd series of events started when the strong smell of the drink known as Mahua managed to attract large numbers of elephants from the surrounding jungle in the small hours of the morning. After downing 18 large containers of the liquor the inebriated jumbos stampeded through the village looking for more, ransacking three houses and causing a huge ruckus.

Local authorities appealed for help in pushing the herd back across the river, it is believed that the 50 elephants that turned up were part of a larger group of 120 that had come from Damla. By the time the intruders has been pushed back they had left a trail of destruction in their wake including damaged buildings and flattened paddy fields.
