So how long until an assasination attempt?

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by grantcart (a host of the Barack Obama group).

When these creeps have no other way to win, will one of them or more go off the deep end and try to assassinate Obama?

When DEM Presidents are really getting the job done JFK, or like his brother Robert Kennedy moving the common people greatly, it seems more dangerous for them.

Obama seems to be a lot like Robert Kennedy.

How can we really keep him safe? I know people report death threats seriously here, but I'm a little frightened now.

shouldn't the SS have taken that guy down? What if he was packing? I'd like to know if they patted him down 1st.

out there saw that and someone will try the same thing. It wasn't smart even if they did know him. It sends the wrong message out to people who want to harm him.

Thing is that we DEMs get to feeling happy that the system is working and we have to remember to keep alert, keep him alive.

I strongly recommend that you try to not be scared. We have no control over what happens...

Of course, one thing we can do is report any activity that looks like a threat.

Worrying about something that is out of our hands is a recipe for depression.

I'm in Minnesota and we lost Paul Wellstone under suspicious circumstances. Another great DEM who not everyone agreed with but all respected because he was the real deal.

Though it's just as likely the rethugs will stage an attempt at Romney to get the sympathy, underdog thing going.

I'm much too cynical - need to go to bed. Fresh eyes in the morning.

I think he gets threats often too and I remember that his kids were threatened. If he wins this election, we will be on high alert. I actually worry that the Romney camp will try to do something to him before the debate, so Mitt won't look so stupid.

IF America is going to be actually diverse and happily so, maybe white supremacists will move away to an island somewhere by themselves and pout it out.

I love Obama, and fully expect some nonsense from the Radical Right if he wins. If someone tries to kill him, I hope the brave men and women who keep him safe will win. The problem is that a lot of hatred has been spewed for the last four years, and there is no telling what an unhinged mind might do with that.

The BOG is more concerned with the President's policies, his family, his campaign and providing a place where supporters can interact.

Security of the President and discussion of those that may be plotting against him would be appropriate for GD and we invite you to post threads like that there.

Thank you for your understanding.
