How to prevent your PC from upgrading to Windows 10
http://www.zdnet.com/article/how-to-prevent-your-pc-from-upgrading-to-windows-10/He uses GWX Control Panel . If you click my link, the program will automatically download to your hard drive, so be aware of that. The name of the program is GwxControlPanelSetup.exe, in case you need to find it.
Hope this helps a few.
ETA: After a week or so, I'm going to pin this at the top of the forum.

(41,694 posts)3. first thing to do is set Updates to "Notify but do not download."
either hide KB3035583 or uninstall it if already installed, then hide it if it pops back up.

but not on my dual user (my Dad is a guest, I'm admin) win7 laptop.
I suspect I have to remove it on admin and guest before restarting? Or is there something else I need to know?
