I installed Google Chrome on Nov. 1st, 2014.

I bookmark videos, documentaries, speeches, lectures, etc. to view latter.

After I watch them I delete them.

When I was using Google it would fill my recycle bin.

I would empty my recycle bin daily.

Since I switched to Google Chrome my recycle bin has remained empty.

I have deleted many videos, but my recycle bin remains empty.

Is this normal?

Is Google Chrome automatically emptying my recycle bin ?

I am completely computer illiterate.

Any help will have to be explained so that a child can understand it.

Thank you in advance.

Google the search engine (www.google.com) ?

I have deleted many videos, but my recycle bin remains empty.

Do you mean actual video files (such as .mov or .avi) or videos off Youtube or Vevo etc ?

Videos from YouTube, Democracy Now, Vevo etc.

Google the search engine.

I don't know what (such as .mov or .avl) means.

If I had a music video saved on my favorites when I would delete it, it would show up in my recycle bin.

I would then empty my recycle bin.

I'm assuming you are not doing it accidentally or forgetting about it.

Have you done a virus and malware scan lately ?

I haven't forgotten about it.

My recycle bin is always empty.

I scan for viruses and malware everyday at 2:00 a.m.

There has been nothing in my recycle bin since Nov. 1st, 2014.

I have deleted many videos off YouTube and other sites.

I am totally confused.

1- You are doing it.

2- Another program is doing it.

3- I'm not sure if Windows does it after X days.

It looks extremely complicated.

I am not doing it.

I don't know if another program is doing it.

Windows has never done it after X amount of days before.

Computers are so over my head.

6. Shortcuts
Fri Jan 30, 2015, 07:53 PM
Jan 2015

Chances are, when you say you delete a video, you mean you delete a shortcut (bookmark) to a video. Unless you have special software, it's not easy to have a YouTube video to delete. A shortcut is what you click on to go to a certain YouTube video or any other specific web page.

A few questions about the the shortcuts or files that you delete: Where are they located? Are they on your Google browser? Are they on your desktop? How do you save them?

After I show it to everyone, I go back to the bookmarks right click on the mouse, click delete.

When I was using plain Google, it would go directly to my recycle bin.

I would empty it daily manually.

Now that I use Google Chrome, when I delete bookmarked videos they do not go into the recycle bin.

There is never anything to empty.

RB = Recycle Bin

The deleted Google Chrome bookmark simply vanishes.

I am assuming you used to place a bookmark on your desktop somehow. You were then deleting those bookmarks (also called icons) and those would go into the RB.

Does that make sense ?

That answered my question.

When I delete a Google Chrome bookmark it does not go in the RB=recycle bin.

They vanish alright, and that was what was confusing me.

I use to use favorites on plain Google and delete those after I watched them.

They went directly in my RB.

There were no icons.

I just saved them under favorites.

Right click on the mouse and hit delete.

Then empty the RB.

Thank you so very much.

Does that make sense ??

Did I understand you ??

when you delete an Internet Explorer Favorite, it does go in the RB.

When you delete a Google Chrome bookmark, it goes poof.

I love my computer.

I wish I was more knowledgeable about it.

Thank you for your patience !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have a wonderful weekend.

P.S. I am afraid to ask, but how do I get rid of the original Google ???

If I click on the Internet Explorer Browser Icon my original Google comes up.

All my favorites are still there.

Is this taking up a lot of space ???

Is this slowing down my computer ???

Is it confusing my computer ???

Should I just leave well enough alone ???

When I installed Google Chrome should it have removed the original Google ???

It's not taking up too much space, no.

It is not slowing down your computer.

It is not confusing anything.

Leave it alone.

No, Google Chrome leaves all other browsers alone, including Internet Explorer.

11. Google's bookmarks are in the cloud - online
Fri Jan 30, 2015, 08:15 PM
Jan 2015

As far as I know, and especially if you have a Google account (Gmail, Google Plus) Google's bookmarks are in the cloud - they're online and not stored on your computer.

Bookmarks that are stored on the cloud do not go to your recycle bin. They just go...poof!

I saved a bookmark to this discussion on my desktop using Google Chrome. When I deleted it, it showed up in my recycle bin because it was on my computer - on my desktop.

I deleted a bookmark from Google Chrome's bookmarks and it didn't enter my recycle bin because it wasn't on my computer. It was on the cloud instead.

Make sense?
