How can I keep from getting thumbnails for folder or file lists?

I've set Windows to default to "list" instead of thumbnails, but I'm still getting the damn thumbnails. This only seems to happen in graphics programs. typed documents appear in dialog boxes as lists instead of thumbnails.

I only started having this problem since I had to get a new hard drive and have all my files loaded onto it. All three of the graphics programs I use I loaded on with discs. And yes, I even tried reloading all of them but every time I go to open or save a file I'm still getting the list as thumbnails. AAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGHHHH!!! This is driving my batty!

Never had this problem with it until I got the new hard drive a week or so ago.

There is a setting for this but it's not working in some of my programs. It works fine in Windows Explorer or WordPerfect but not in my three graphics programs.

When you go to save a file in each of your graphics programs and it opens an instance of Windows Explorer, before you save, can you go to the View tab from the top menu and select Details rather than Thumbnails? I'm not sure if those directions are correct and hope someone with XP will jump in but after selecting Details for that folder it should be remembered the next time you open it.

The problem is since it's defaulting to thumbnails every single time I go to open or save a file I have to manually switch it from thumbnails view to list view. That's what's driving me batty. I DO always get list view in Windows Explorer or WordPerfect or Word, but it's my graphics programs that are suddenly defaulting to thumbnail view.

Windows XP and XP Pro both have a Files Options section in the control panel where you can chose stuff like double clicking to open a file or move through sub-folders, etc. and they also have the option to chose what view you want to default to and whether or not you want that view for everything or not. I've got all the right things checked off so that it should be defaulting to list view but I'm still getting the damn thumbnails view anyway.
