When you're on the Yahoo page that comes up with new tab, is there a RESTORE link on the bottom right? Try clicking on that/

In addition, you might want to scan for malware. Malwarebytes should help: https://www.malwarebytes.org/

Before trying that, see if you have an extension called "Default Tab." If so, try disabling it.
