Irish Labour just ran the kind of campaign the UK Labour Right wants to run in 2020

The exact campaign Labour WILL run, in fact, if the Labour Right get their way and somehow depose Jeremy Corbyn as leader.

Bland, centrist, pro-austerity, devoid of passion, and totally subservient to corporate power and the right-wing party(Fine Gael)Irish Labour usually goes into coalition with(in the same way the Labour Right are totally submissive to and in unquestioning agreement with David Cameron).

The result was a fall from 35 seats and almost 20% of the popular vote(in the last election) to, at most(pending the final distribution of votes on Longforth-Meath, the last multi-member constituency where a seat is still in play), 7 seats and 6.6% of the vote. Most of the gains in vote share were made by parties well to the left of Labour and by left-wing independents. At this point, the left-wing Anti-Austerity-Alliance/People Before Profits slate has matched Labour in the seat count, 6 seats to 6).

So much for the wisdom of the anti-Corbyn Labour Right.

He had a huge popular vote and there's been no shock in byelections. The only thing that could remove him would be a collapse of the Labour vote in the European elections.

Is for the non-Corbynite wing of Labour to offer a persuasive, positive alternative. That doesn't mean shouting vote for us or it's the Tories ad nauseum but offering policies people might actually want to support.

At present, a lot of the anti-Corbynites seem to be putting a lot of effort into the campaign to stay in the EU, which is a good thing. But beyond that, they need to move beyond sneering and careerism and start representing Labour supporters better. They can't challenge Corbyn without putting their own house in order first.

I don't want Corbyn removed. I want him to have a fair crack at the whip. If he mucks up the next election then he should be got rid of, but only then.

I do think he's been a bit quiet though, on everything except Trident. He should be talking out on the NHS and marching with the junior doctors.

In particular, the need to reverse Tony Blair's total suppression of internal party democracy.

Most of them just want the pre-2008 status quo restored, and won't tolerate any other vision for how Labour should be run or how it should fight elections.
