LBC radio phone in: Listen to UKIP supporter fail to come up with 1 thing that UKIP stands for

This is what happened when a Ukip voter tried to explain to James O'Brien what the party stands for.

As Douglas Carswell became their first elected MP, James O'Brien asked callers to explain which policies persuaded them to vote for Ukip.

Jack from Welling was the first person to phone up, starting with a real gusto, but very quickly left desperately searching for words.

It is the latest in James O'Brien's clashes with Ukip. He is best remembered for this interview with Nigel Farage, which was so tricky that spin doctor Patrick O'Flynn was forced to storm in to end it.

...how about Mike Read doing a "UKIP Calypso" and UKIP trying to start a viral campaign to get it to number 1?

Personally, I think I'll stick to my old thrash metal records instead.

Nigel Farage has given his backing to a Ukip song performed by Mike Read, the former Radio 1 DJ.
Mr Farage called on his supporters to get Ukip Calypso to the number one slot in the singles charts.
Mr Read, a prominent Ukip supporter, performs the anthem in a faux-West Indian accent.
The song contains the chorus: “Oh yes! When we take charge, and the new Prime Minister is Farage, We can trade with the world again, When Nigel is at Number Ten.”
It goes on: “The leaders committed a cardinal sin, opened the borders let them all come in, illegal immigrants in every town, stand up and be counted Blair and Brown.”

"opened the borders let them all come in, illegal immigrants in every town". If the borders were "opened" they would have been for legal migrants, not illegal ones.

As far as Mike Read's minstrel show, I'm speechless!

Here is an article he wrote in support of Boris Johnson that went down in folklore on the Grauniad's "Comment Is Free" section.

Please bear in mind, that when Mike Read says "I've spoken to lots of young kids in gangs or "crews" as they prefer to be known" that this is a man living in Frinton-On-Sea, a town with about as much in common with "street" culture as the Duke Of Devonshire.

Former BBC Radio 1 DJ Mike Read has apologised for "unintentionally causing offence" with Ukip Calypso song and has asked his record company to withdraw it.

The song, which the Surrey-born disc jockey sings in a mock Jamaican accent, had been branded “racist”.

The track, credited to The Independents, was released this week on Amazon and iTunes, but has now been withdrawn from those sites.

Considering that most of UKIP's policy is about how NOT to have to deal with the rest of the world, this is definitely from fantasyland.

And it is seriously awful as a song, apart from anything else.

And UKIP's new golden boy, Douglas Carswell has an especially bad record in this regard.

And that, more then anything else, is the biggest reason for me to never vote for UKIP.
