BREAKING The whole of Wales will begin a 17-day lockdown on Friday

A leaked document has revealed that Wales could be entering a ‘circuit breaker’ lockdown this week that will see the region go back into the restrictions first imposed in March. Over the weekend, Welsh First Minister Mark Drakeford said the nation’s devolved government was looking ‘very carefully’ at introducing a circuit-breaker lockdown in Wales to curb the rising infection rate in the region. The ‘circuit breaker’ lockdown would see pubs, restaurants and hairdressers closed and household mixing discouraged. If enforced, it is thought that the Welsh ‘circuit breaker’ lockdown will last until at least Monday November 9, when schools will be due to go back after half-term.

A temporary national lockdown will be put into place in Wales, the Welsh first minister, Mark Drakeford, has announced.

The Welsh government believes a two-week lockdown, or firebreak, from Friday at 6pm is vital to help bring the virus under control.

Everyone will be told to stay at home, while pubs, restaurants and non-essential shops will shut.

Primary schools will reopen after the half term break, but only Years Seven and Eight in secondary schools will return at that time.

Gatherings indoors and outdoors with people not in a single household will be banned.

Leisure businesses, community centres, libraries and recycling centres will shut. Places of worship will be closed for normal services, except for funerals and weddings.

I see very little posted as to how insanely hostile the MAGAts are going to get when the orange bloat is no longer in charge.

We're facing similar choices in Scotland, though I hope such a widescale lockdown won't be necessary.

But a "circuit breaker" in any area on its own is of limited use unless the time it buys is spent improving track and trace etc.

My worry is Covid deniers across the border will be like, "But I wanna go to my holiday home"

along with the rest of South Yorkshire. The big questions about this, as ever revolve around the financial support from central government.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-54627017

South Yorkshire will move into tier three from 00.01 on Saturday, meaning 7.3 million people in England will be living under the toughest Covid rules.

Sheffield City region mayor Dan Jarvis said the move followed "extensive discussions" with ministers. The rules will apply to all council areas in South Yorkshire - Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield.

Under tier three, England's "very high" level of alert, pubs and bars that do not serve substantial meals have to close, and there are further restrictions on households mixing.

Additional rules in South Yorkshire include the closure of betting shops, adult gaming centres, casinos, soft play centres and gym classes - though gyms will remain open.
