RCMP arrest journalist in New Brunswick

RCMP have placed a journalist in New Brunswick under arrest, apparently alleging that he was uttering death threats.

But his editor and co-workers believe that Miles Howe, who had been reporting regularly on hydraulic fracking in Atlantic Canada, was arrested because he was asking too many uncomfortable questions. Reports also indicate that his camera was seized.

“His arrest is a clear effort to silence grassroots voices,” the Media Co-op said in a release.

The arrest came as tensions in Atlantic Canada rise about hydraulic fracking, a process of extracting oil and gas from shale rock by injecting high-pressure water and chemicals into the ground before drilling. Documentary films, protest groups and government regulations have combined to boost paranoia about the energy extraction technique through the roof, despite assurances from energy companies that everything is safe.

for one guy, his wife and their dog when he was holding up a fracking protest sign not too long ago when they were doing testing by Moncton. I can't find the video, but it was pretty fucking stupid. Shitpiles of cops with nothing better to do..
