Republicans attempt to stop abortions for state employees by ending insurance plan coverage

Rep. André Jacque is a sponsor of the bill.

Health insurance plans for Wisconsin state employees could not cover abortions, with few exceptions, under legislation being proposed by four Republican lawmakers.

Under the bill, currently being circulated for co-sponsorship, the state's Group Insurance Board could not enter into a group health insurance plan contract or provide a group health insurance plan on a self-insured basis that provides abortion services, except for in cases of rape, incest or the life of the mother...

Rep. Lisa Subeck, D-Madison, pushed back on the proposal, calling it "politically motivated legislation that interferes with a women’s ability to access reproductive healthcare."

To make matters worse, Scott Walker's hand-picked Group Insurance Board meets Feb. 8 to vote in WalkerCare and begin the process of reducing health care benefits and instituting higher costs for state employees. Things get bleaker and bleaker for state employees, and inevitably everyone, in Wisconsin.

Quite a bit of corruption in the Republican controlled branches of state government (all of them) explains a little more. But then again Scott Walker and Ron Johnson were recently elected in statewide elections, so maybe we're just stuck with an undereducated, ignorant, gullible, mean spirited, intolerant majority of voters?
