MADISON-Following is the statement of Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate following Thursday's revelation, following a federal court's ruling, of new details surrounding the crooked Republican redistricting scheme for Wisconsin.
"The Republican effort to create hidden networks to keep details of their crooked redistricting schemes from citizens shows how low Wisconsin has been dragged under Scott Walker's rule. A three-judge panel called the activities "shameful," and anyone with a sense of good government would agree. Any Republican who participated in these actions and abetted them must explain why they are above the rule of law. The unethical baton held up so well by Scott Jensen has been ably passed to Scott Walker and Scott Fitzgerald and Wisconsin is worse for it."

(26,624 posts)The emails show a concerted effort to line up political support for maps leaders knew would be highly controversial, going so far as to orchestrate supporting testimony before the potential testifiers had even seen the maps.
In an email dated July 11, 2011, attorney Jim Troupis discussed with Republican legislative staffers how to prepare for the supporting testimony of conservative Dane County Sup. Eileen Bruskewitz. In the message, Troupis said Bruskewitz will testify in favor of the maps if they "call her and provide her the numbers, district lines, and other information today and then walk her through things."

You can let the chair know that Manny Perez and others from the Latino community will be there to testify for a 60-54 map. You will need to have a large map showing that district-you should prepare that and bring it with. You should still, I think talk about the three alternatives. That way it looks like what it is-and effective negotiation of something the community wants.
Congratulations! Manny is talking right now to MALDEF to coordinate their testimony. Jim
