Gov. Justice orders audit investigation
Gov. Jim Justice asked his general counsel to conduct an investigation into why West Virginia submitted a statewide audit of every agency late for a third year in a row.
Thats according to Brian Abraham, Justices general counsel, who asked officials with the Department of Military Affairs and Public Safety to help interrogate officials at different state agencies.
It was done by my office for a reason, so that we could keep it maintained under (attorney-client) privilege until we decided what we were going to do after we determined what actually happened and if anyone was at fault, Abraham said.
The Gazette-Mail requested a cache of documents relating to the states investigation into why the audit was late after one member of Justices cabinet told lawmakers the governor commissioned a third-party investigation of the matter.
