Sites wanted: Dicks Drive-In heads south with its next location
Dick’s Drive-In will open its next location somewhere in south King County, and it's asking for help finding the perfect spot.
The iconic burger-and-shake chain's online poll for the seventh location closed Friday with 178,000 votes. The southern expansion, with about 106,000 votes, beat the eastern option.
Now the question is where exactly to build this newest Dick’s. The Spady family has run the business run since its beginnings in 1954. It's headed now by Jim Spady, son of co -founder Dick Spady, who died last year at the age of 92.
Seattle-based Dick’s told customers that a southern expansion could include West Seattle, South Seattle, Renton, Burien, SeaTac, Tukwila, Kent, Auburn, Normandy Park, Des Moines and Federal Way.
