Seattle DUers! Come to an MLK march tomorrow! (And a panel with John Carson!)
Any and all Seattle DUers who can should come to the 33rd annual MLK celebration at Garfield High School! You can come earlier for the rally and workshops, or just come for the march after.
Theme: Fight For Your Rights in 2015
Keynote Speaker: Jelani Brown from Ferguson, MO
Link to location
Agenda:
9am: MLK Day Workshops in Garfield Classrooms
10am: Rally In Garfield Large Gym
12pm - March Leaves Garfield
1pm - March Arrives at Federal Building
If anybody would like, I would be interested in meeting people from here. Go ahead and shoot me a PM. I'll be marching with the Seattle ISO chapter (www.pugetsoundsocialists.org), but I would be happy to meet up with people either before or after, or even during!
Also, this should be a fantastic event, and I highly encourage you all to make time to come to it this Thursday!
"From Black Power to Black Lives Matter: Organizing in the Struggle"
A panel featuring John Carlos, the Olympian who raised his fist along with Tommie Smith in the 1968 Olympics!
He is an incredible activist, and I have been learning a ton about him in the last week or two. It should be a very interesting discussion, and there will be activists from all over the area.
January 22, 2015 @ 7:00 pm 9:00 pm
Also at Garfield High School
