Convenience fee: right.

WASHINGTON ó Drivers who pay metered parking with their smartphone will need to use a different app in Alexandria, Virginia, beginning Sept. 1, the city announced Thursday.

Customers who use ParkMobile will pay the same $1.75 hourly rate as they would at pay stations and meters that accept credit cards. A 45-cent convenience fee, however, will be added.

Users must first download the free app (available for iOS and Android) and create an account.

1. Doesn't sound very goddamn convenient to me

first you have to download a new app and then you have to pay a fee. The very antithesis of convenience.

2. As always, the "convenience" is not for you but for them. nt

3. Actually, it is pretty convenient

I have used ParkMobile in my town for several years. I donít have to worry about having coins in my pocket or dealing with parking fee kiosks. And I donít have to rush down to the meter to put more coins in before it times out. True, if I had to use it every day, that would be an additional nine dollars or so a month and I donít have to rush down to the meter to put more coins in before it times out.
