Judge sets Date for Kessler Lawsuit Over Permit Denial for Aug. 12 Anniversary Rally
A federal judge will hear the case this month over Unite the Right rally organizer Jason Kessler being denied a permit to hold an anniversary rally in Emancipation Park on August 11 and 12.
The city denied the request for a permit back in December.
In the federal lawsuit, Kessler claims the city and city manager are denying his First Amendment and 14th Amendment rights. Kessler is asking the court to overturn the city's decision and grant a permit for the rally.
The hearing is slated for July 24 at 2:30 p.m.
