Those Trumpsters who stormed that location must have forgotten there were 49 other places during Early Voting and 12 voting days to vote early. I am convinced that was all part of an effort to discourage voting on the day the future VP was in town and raise a big stink in general to make voters decide to stay away. The voters' response was awesome. My personal jury is still out on the police action; we have heard that the local police precinct knew something was up; what looked like an escort was to keep the guys in trucks from driving over someone or firing.

These early locations are scattered evenly all around the county in easily accessible locations that are well known to our voters.

Cain and his cohort obviously want to discourage voters but since there was no other report of such activities over the 12 days of voting the objective was very obvious. Republicans in Texas have no subtlety at all.

All of these folks could have moved to another location, and voted. Also they could have voted on Election day at any of 300 voting centers located in neighborhoods all over the county. (the best thing ever devised for voting) The 300 voting centers are actually the precinct locations; there are 6 within 10 minutes of our house) If a bunch of good ole boys show up to intimidate voters at a given location, there are others nearby; it is a lot more trouble to mess with all of them. Election judges can contact nearby election judges and direct voters to locations which are not being assaulted.

Surprisingly, I have not seen any references to eliminating Voting Centers in the proposed legislation which I suspect is because they are very popular. Imagine walking into the wrong precinct on Election Day and being told you can go right ahead and vote there instead of your old precinct which may be on the other side of the county.

So far we have not had any issues with poll watchers at any of our voting locations; we have very tight rules about that.

It is going to be interesting to see what is in the fine print of the proposed legislation. Messing with voting locations is not very smart.

4. Eliminating voting centers is in SB 7 which passed the Senate on Wed and is going to the House

It isn't worded that way though.

SB 7 will require every county wide polling location have the same amount of machines..
This will kill voting centers

SECTION 3.05.Section 43.007, Election Code, is amended by
adding Subsection (q) to read as follows:
(q) Each countywide polling place in a county must have
approximately the same number of voting machines as each other
countywide polling place in the county
