Five prison officers charged in cover-up

BEEVILLE – Five Texas Department of Criminal Justice correctional officers face possible prison sentences themselves if they are convicted on several felony charges.

The five all are suspected of being involved in the assault of two offenders at the Raul R. “Rudy” Garza West Unit in June 2016 or being involved in a subsequent cover-up of the incident during an investigation in late June, July and August of that year.

The officers were indicted by the Bee County Grand Jury on May 22.
