$500 million lawsuit filed against Helotes man convicted in shocking attack on young lesbian couple

A woman who survived the park shooting that killed her girlfriend, is now suing the man convicted in the attack for $500 million, a lawsuit filed earlier this week shows.

Mary Kristene Chapa, 18, and her girlfriend, Mollie Olgin, 19, were tied up, stripped and shot in a Corpus Christi park in June 2012 by David Strickland, a 30-year-old from Helotes.

Chapa, who was shot in the head, survived the attack. Strickland was arrested in 2014.

In September 2016, Strickland was convicted of capital murder, aggravated sexual assault and aggravated assault and sentenced to life in prison by a San Patricio County jury.

Chapa is now suing Strickland, his father, Larry Joe Strickland, and Taft Pharmacy, Larry Joe's company, according to a lawsuit filed Wednesday in San Patricio County obtained by the Corpus Christi Caller-Times.

Nothing can adequately compensate Mollie Olgin and her family. Chapa has significant medical issues and costs.

Strickland has been convicted and is serving life. I hope he never gets out. So, what does his father and his small pharmacy have to do with it? He and the business cannot be worth $500 million.

There's will be a judgement. Strickland senior will lose all he has and go bankrupt. Justice served? Not really.
